New for 2009, C.A. Rotwang Labs is a departure from the style of my previous haunts. In the past it has all been about having a scary, typical Halloween style haunt. This included a real medical skeleton, spiders, fog, spider webs, black lights, strobes and a scary sound track. C.A. Rotwang Labs is a theme which fits my personality and ideas a bit better. C.A. Rotwang was the first mad scientist to be featured in film. His lab defined mad scientist labs in film for years, some even using the same props. As a computer/science geek, I felt that this theme would work better with my overall style and ideas. This year, I expect to use old, old computers, an oscilliscope, glowing chemicals, spooky science sounds, and (hopefully) a Jacob's Ladder. In the future, I hope to add a Tesla coil, Faraday cage, animated half-finished monsters, "extra" body parts and many more geeky items to my haunt. Another change from past years included the soundtracks. In the past, I used a single PC and a single soundtrack for the entire haunt. This year, I'll have four separate, independent soundtracks running in different parts of the haunt. |
